- Bonjour mi amie. I am mademoiselle Maupin. I was a famous French Opera singer in my time. I am known for my beautiful contralto voice. People gossip about me saying that I have a very wild and flamboyant life. Before I was an Opera singer I fought duels against young aristocrats, and dressed up in mens clothing and sang for my living. I have had many many love affairs with men and women, resulting in many many bad affairs with the law. Everything I do I do with passion and love. Au revoir my lovely friends.
That is remarkable La Maupin. You must be so honored to have Tancrède André Campra written just for you. The music sounds very lovely, and most superb. I would of loved to have heared you sing this opera in person. Till next time Mademoiselle Maupin.
